Abstract

Asian Youth Day is a triennial event held every three years, involving thousands youth participants from countries in Asia continent. This year, The 7th Asian Youth Day was held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Contribution of the latest technologies was important to make the event effectively organized. One of the technologies is implementing the database system concept to manage participants, accommodations, and events data. Not everyone can self-understand the concept. Therefore it was necessary to train the concept of database so that they can provide, process, view and retrieve data easily and effectively. Training was given to 20 trainees that were separated into three sessions by giving knowledge about how to organize spreadsheet data, basic concept of tables, relationship between tables, and how to write appropriate and effective SQL queries. The response from the trainees was quite good, as proven by evaluation result, which showed trainee’s mastery to be beyond average point.
