Abstract

The aim of this social service was to give understanding about the importance of literacy culture to
principal, teacher and librarian and train them in designing and managing the program of literacy culture. Based
on the result obtained, it could be concluded that this activity was very important to be conducted. There were
schools that had not understood the compulsory program proposed by Kemdikbud, that is, GLS (Gerakan Literasi
Sekolah). The result of the questionnaire distributed after the seminar, it was found that 26 participants or 100%
of participants understood the compulsory program better. The teachers who attended the seminar were
enthusiastic in doing discussion about the present program. Besides, there were suggestions from the member of
social service and Ida Bagus Soma Putra which were very beneficial in evaluating the program. The programs
related to GLS were designed as the condition of in the schools and then implemented in those schools. After
conducting monitoring session, the most implemented program was 15-minute reading before the lesson started
and managing the library in the schools.
