The importance of the existence of mangrove ecosystem of TelukPangpang, Banyuwangi Regency, making the mangrove area outside Alas Purwo National Park in 2011 is designated as an Essential Ecosystem Areawhose management is submitted to the Government of Banyuwangi Regency. Mangrove of TelukPangpangget support community empowerment activities from Ramsar Regional Center – East Asia Wetland Fund (RRC-EA WF). The purpose of this community empowerment isto conserve mangrove ecosystems, through economic development and community-based mangrove edutourism. Methods of empowerment are 1) Community Training on Mangrove Edutourism; 2) Mangrove nursery; 3) Mangrove education for school children, 4) Survey mangrove appropriate tourism route. The results of empowerment are:Increased capacity of communities around Pangpang Bay in mangrove conservation and tourist cadre; Mangrove nursery for at least four species native Pangpang Bay (Sonneratia Alba, Rhizopora Sp., Bruguiera gymnohyza dan Sonneratia Caseolaris); Mangrove track.
