Abstract

After the division of the village in year of 2007, Tua Village and Baru Village did not have a map of village boundary, while the village officers hoped to have the map to provide clarity and legal certainty to minimize conflict at border area. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a community service activity to provide training for village officers, public figure, landowners in border areas, and young people to know the boundaries of their village. The objectives of this program are (1) to establish the knowledge and skills of village officers, landowners in border areas, young people related to the importance of making the map, and; (2) to produce the map of Tua Village and Baru Village. The activities undertaken to achieve these objectives include (1) development of guidelines for mapping the boundary on digital; (2) socialization about importance of village boundary and the introduction of GPS; (3) training and assistance in measuring village boundary in the field on participatory GPSbased. In general, the participants were very appreciative towards these activities in order to minimize conflict in boundary areas. This activity ran smoothly according to plan which resulted in the settlement of the final production of the map of Tua Village and Baru Village.
