Abstract

Counting training with Trachternberg method is a service to the community with the aim of: (1) introducing for those who do not know and recall for those who already know trachternberg count method that may be used as a reference effective method in teaching how to count elementary school students. (2) to practice numeracy skills by Trachternberg method. (3) to motivate teachers to teach arithmetic with easy and pleasant things. The target in this community service activity is elementary school teacher in Karawang regency. The training methods used are lectures, group discussions and simulations. In the technique of collecting data, the results of the training were conducted with qualitative descriptive. Data taken from observation, see the result of simulation and interview. The results of this calculating training activity by Trachternberg method provide new experiences and are a choice of new teaching methods for teachers. However, the simulation result of the work math test  does not show the difference of time which is quite different between conventional counting work compared with Trachternberg method. This can be possible because of unfamiliarity and short time spent in training.
