PENGEMBANGAN ROBOT PENULIS AKSARA BALI BERBASIS LEGO MINDSTROM NXT

Abstract

This research developed a Lego Mindstorm NXT-based robot that has the ability to write Balinese script. The robot developed in this research is an improvement from the previous robot so it has advantages on aspects: (a) generated characters; (b) the completeness of a writable Balinese script; (C) addition of capability for Latin to Balinese script conversion; and (d) improvement of mechanical robot. The development using Rapid Application Development method with developer software option is Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 and Lego Mindstorm NXT-G. To determine the performance of the resulting robot, the product has been tested through 6 test cases: (1) vowels; (2) consonants; (3) consonant signs; (4) pangangge tengenan characters; (5) numeric characters; and (6) the phrase or sentence. The test results show that the robot reaches the accuracy value of writing a bali script for 65.87%. Some examples of Balinese script such as: script ya and script number 9 (nine) has not been able to be written by robot as expected, because some aspects include: gear configuration and battery power. This shortcoming needs to be resolved in the future work.
