Abstract

The aim of this research was to obtain a valid prototype of learning model based on the five process standards and sociocultural theory (5PSST) and able to improve students' concept comprehension. The type of this research is a development research based on Plomp development theory. Research was designed during 2 years. The procedures at the first year were: preliminary investigation, design, and realization/construction phase. The obtained data were collected using validity sheet and then analyzed descriptively. The result of this study showed that learning model based 5PSST has syntax: introduction, utilization of the five process standards and sociocultural theory, presentation and conclusion, and evaluation is a valid learning model. 5PSST based learning model helps students to construct concepts through learning process that takes into account the sequence and interrelationship of concept and reflective thinking.
