PEMANFAATAN MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN OLEH MAHASISWA PPL JURUSAN PENDIDIKAN BAHASA INGGRIS DI SMP NEGERI 1 SINGARAJA

Abstract

This research aims at (1) describing medias usage by English Education Department students in a teaching training program in SMPN 1 Singaraja which covers types of media that was frequently used in their teaching, and (2) describing how were those medias used along the teaching and learning proses. This study is a descriptively qualitative research. The source of the data in this research is English Education Department students who were having teaching training program in SMPN 1 Singaraja.The method of data collection which was used in this research were observation and documentation.Then, the data were analyzed through three steps; data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Besides, data triangulation was done through two techniques they were; researcher / observer triangulation and theory triangulation. Based on the observation result and result of data analyzes in form of percentage, it was found that Visual Media was used very frequently by English Education Department students who were having teaching training program in SMPN 1 Singaraja. This media was used for 63.5%.Meanwhile, Audio Media and Multimedia were used less frequent than Visual Media. They got the second place by 15.9% usage along the teaching training program period. The last media which was rarely used by English Education Department students who were having teaching training program in SMPN 1 Singaraja was Audio Visual Media with 4.8 % of usage percentage. Moreover, the usage of those medias based on 2013 curriculum phase is as follows: in observing phase, visual media was used dominantly and followed by multimedia, audio media and audiovisual media. Then, the same condition happened in questioning phase, visual media placed the highest percentage followed by audio media, multimedia and audiovisual media. After that in exploring phase, still visual media was used a lot but not as many as in observing phase followed by multimedia, audio media and audiovisual media still rarely used in this phase. Furthermore visual media played important role in associating phase followed by audio media, multimedia and audiovisual media. Finally in communicating phase, visual media was used more frequently than other media, it was followed by multimedia, audio media and audiovisual media.
