The Effect of Bench Press Exercise on the Pushing Strength of the Arm Muscles toward Shorinji Kempo Athletes
Background of this study is the lacking of physical training of Bali Shorinji Kempo athletes, especially the pushing strength of the arm muscles. This research analyzed the bench press exercises effect on the pushing strength of the arm muscles with a sample of 30 people by pretest-posttest control groups design. Furthermore, the research data were analyzed using the independent t-test. The results of this study are the provision of bench press exercises can increase the pushing strength of the arm muscles with a t-test value of 2.233 with a significance of 0.034 (0.034 less than 0.05) and an average difference value of 1.933 among the groups. So it can be concluded that bench press training has a significant effect on increasing the pushing strength of the arm muscles in male athletes of Shorinji Kempo Bali.
