Core Exercise To Strengthen The Core Muscle for Swimming

Abstract

As a swimmer, having a strong core can increase speed and improve technique. Because core muscle describes the ability to control the body position and become the center of body movement. The core plays an important role to stabilize streamline position and can minimize drag resistance through the water. Thus, swimmers must include dryland exercises to train regimens that work on core muscles. Therefore, this study aims to develop a core training model to strengthen swimmer core muscles. The research approach used in this study was the research and development of Borg and Gall. The subjects in this study used 20 swimmers. After expert validity testing, and the attractiveness and feasibility test for the research subjects, 33 core training models were obtained in accordance with the research objectives, namely the development of core training models using stability ball to increase core muscle strength that required in swimming.
